House Speaker Mike Johnson clashed with NBC News anchor Kristen Welker over the release of former President Donald Trump’s medical records. Welker pressed Johnson on whether Trump should disclose more information about his health, including his cholesterol levels, following Vice President Kamala Harris’s release of her own medical report.

Johnson dismissed Welker’s concerns, suggesting that Trump’s health was already on display through his tireless work schedule. “The man works nonstop,” he said. “He never quits. He probably sleeps four hours a night. He doesn’t require as much sleep as the average person. He’s an unusual figure. And this is the strength that we need in a time like this.”

Welker noted that Trump had declined to release his medical records, and that the public might be concerned about potential health issues that could impact his ability to serve as commander-in-chief. Johnson cut her off, insisting that the American people were more concerned about the economy and the cost of living.

“The American people don’t care about the cholesterol level of Donald Trump,” Johnson said. “They care about the cost of living and the fact they cannot pay for groceries because Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s policies have put them in that situation.” He argued that Trump’s policies were resonating with voters, who were responding to his “nonstop” appearances and interviews.

Welker pressed Johnson on whether Trump’s lack of transparency about his health was a concern, but Johnson refused to engage on the issue. “The medical records are irrelevant,” he said. “Let’s talk about things that the American people care about.” Johnson’s comments come as Trump surges in the polls, a development that he attributed to his own efforts and the Democrats’ policies.
