Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley of New York issued an apology following an altercation with a police officer who pulled her over for speeding. Body cam footage captured the incident in Webster, where Doorley was caught speeding. She has released a video apology, as reported by the New York Post.
In the video, Doorley expressed remorse for her actions and admitted that she failed to treat the officer with the respect he deserved. She cited personal stress from work and family issues as contributing factors to her behavior but acknowledged that it was wrong to take it out on the officer. Doorley also stated that she has pleaded guilty to the speeding ticket, will pay the fine, and has referred the matter to another district attorney for review.
The incident has drawn criticism, especially after footage of the confrontation was released. Doorley was reportedly driving 55 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone and engaged in a heated exchange with the officer. The Rochester City Council is now urging New York Attorney General Letitia James to investigate Doorley over the incident.
In her apology, Doorley promised to undergo ethics training to emphasize the importance of professionalism and expressed regret for her actions. She acknowledged her own mistakes and vowed to make amends, asking for forgiveness from the community.
