Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, has revealed that a parasite once ate part of his brain but insists it would not impact his ability to serve as president. In 2012, Kennedy experienced memory loss that led to the discovery of a dark spot on his brain. Initially believed to be a tumor, further examination revealed it was a parasite that had entered his brain and subsequently died.

Kennedy speculated that he may have contracted the parasite during a trip to South Asia. Additionally, he was diagnosed with mercury poisoning, likely stemming from his frequent consumption of mercury-contaminated fish, such as tuna sandwiches.

Despite experiencing cognitive issues from the mercury poisoning, Kennedy claims to have fully recovered from both the parasite and mercury poisoning without the need for treatment. He has since modified his diet and reduced his travel.

Kennedy’s campaign spokeswoman dismissed concerns about his health impacting his candidacy, jokingly suggesting his competitors are not in much better shape given their advanced ages. Kennedy, at 70, presents himself as a more youthful and athletic option compared to President Biden and former President Trump, both significantly older than him.

In addition to the parasite and mercury poisoning, Kennedy has also dealt with health challenges from childhood, including hepatitis C and spasmodic dysphonia. He has also experienced heart issues, requiring hospitalization and the use of a defibrillator to correct his heart’s rhythm.
