Former colleagues of Rex Heuermann, the man accused of killing six women, are sharing their experiences of his behavior in the workplace.

Mary Shell worked with Heuermann in 2007 at an architecture firm where he was a consultant. Shell mentioned that Heuermann often hired women when she worked directly with him. She shared her observations with Truth Voices’s Ashleigh Banfield, noting that most of the staff were women. Shell believed that Heuermann’s position of authority and control over less experienced employees inflated his ego.

Jeffrey St. Arromand, a former associate of Heuermann, revealed that a female co-worker was surprised by the aggressive behavior displayed by their colleague. St. Arromand mentioned that Heuermann had specific expectations and would express dissatisfaction if those were not met. He believed that Heuermann’s desire for things to be done his way was indicative of his overall personality.

During Heuermann’s recent court appearance, he faced additional charges related to the killings of two women, in addition to being suspected in the deaths of four women near Long Island’s Gilgo Beach.

According to a bail application from Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney, Heuermann now faces second-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla.

Since 2010, authorities have been investigating the deaths of at least 10 individuals, many of whom were sex workers, whose remains were found near Gilgo Beach. Heuermann, a local architect, was arrested last July in connection with the murders of several women.

During his recent court appearance, Heuermann pleaded not guilty to the charges relating to Taylor and Costilla and was remanded without bail. His attorney, Michael Brown, expressed Heuermann’s shock at the new allegations and the difficult situation he currently finds himself in.
