For the fourth consecutive year, congressional Republicans defeated their Democratic rivals in the annual Congressional Baseball Game at Nationals Stadium.

The final score was 31-11, but the real triumph was the $2.2 million raised for charities.

The GOP started strong, leading 4-0, but by the end of the second inning, Democrats were ahead 5-4.

During this time, climate activists stormed the field but were quickly apprehended and arrested by Capitol Police.

By the end of the fourth inning, Republicans regained the lead at 9-5 and extended it to a 20-run lead, where the game concluded.

The GOP team received a special visit from MLB icon Steve Garvey, who is running for Senate in California against Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).

Proceeds from the game benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, the Washington Literacy Center, the Washington Nationals Philanthropies, and the United States Capitol Police Memorial Fund.
