Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) made a controversial joke about the former brain parasite of presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., linking it to the assassinations of Kennedy’s uncle and father. The joke stemmed from a recent report revealing that a parasite had entered Kennedy’s brain, consumed part of it, and then perished. This information, disclosed in the New York Times, raised concerns about Kennedy’s cognitive abilities.

Collins quipped, “You either die a Kennedy with a hole in the brain or live long enough to become a Kennedy with a hole in the brain,” in a post on social media. The joke garnered mixed reactions, with some finding it humorous and others deeming it offensive. Kennedy himself light-heartedly responded to the situation, joking that he would eat “5 more brain worms” and still triumph over President Trump and President Biden in a debate.

Despite the varying responses to Collins’ joke, there is no known animosity between the two individuals. Collins is recognized for making provocative statements on social media, such as suggesting controversial measures in certain situations. In a previous incident, Collins mentioned the idea of “death flights,” a form of extrajudicial killing associated with Chilean leader Augusto Pinochet, in response to a particular event involving an immigrant and a police officer. This post was subsequently removed for violating social media guidelines.
