Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) called out Vice President Kamala Harris on her stance on fracking during a Friday appearance on “CNN News Central.” Waltz suggested that if Harris has genuinely changed her position on the issue, she should take concrete action by urging President Joe Biden to lift the current pause on liquid natural gas (LNG) export permits.
Waltz pointed out that the existing ban on LNG exports is having far-reaching consequences, including forcing European allies to consider purchasing from Russia instead of the United States. He noted that lifting the ban could have a positive impact on the economy, particularly in terms of reducing transportation costs and alleviating inflationary pressures on the middle class.
Waltz expressed skepticism about Harris’s apparent shift on fracking, implying that she is tailoring her message to suit different audiences. He suggested that Harris’s previous opposition to fracking during the primary was aimed at appeasing the progressive left, and that her current stance is an attempt to appeal to a broader audience in the general election. Waltz characterized Harris’s actions as “a farce” and “fake,” accusing her of saying whatever she thinks people want to hear in order to get elected.
