Left-wing Representative Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) fell for a hoax by a social media parody account posing as the “Chief Rabbi of Gaza.” The fake account, named “Rabbi Linda Goldstein,” fooled Bowman’s team into thinking they wanted to host a fundraiser for him. Despite the satirical nature of the posts on Goldstein’s page, Bowman and his staff did not catch on. Bowman, known for criticizing Israel, had to backtrack on his claims about a Hamas attack and is currently trailing behind in his primary race. When asked about the incident, Bowman’s representative dismissed it as a standard response to a direct message.
