Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) is facing accusations of plagiarism in his 2019 dissertation from Manhattanville College, according to an analysis by the Daily Wire.

The analysis reveals that Bowman’s 141-page dissertation appears to have borrowed a summary from a 2001 book on Critical Race Theory by University of Delaware Professor Rosalie Rolón-Dow without using quotation marks.

Journalists Luke Rosiak and Christopher Rufo highlighted instances where Bowman allegedly copied passages from Rolón-Dow’s work without proper attribution. They also pointed out grammatical errors made while doing so, such as substituting “Latino/Latina” with “Latinx/Latina” incorrectly.

The analysis further identifies other instances where Bowman is accused of pasting in quotes from various authors including René Antrop-González, Anthony De Jesús, Tenah Hunt, Kristen Slack, and Lawrence Berger.

Rosiak and Rufo criticized the alleged plagiarism, describing it as “dismal pseudo-scholarship” that should be scrutinized, along with its authors.

Bowman, a former educator who previously faced controversy for reportedly pulling a fire alarm in the U.S. Capitol to disrupt a vote, has not publicly responded to the allegations of plagiarism.
