Representative Jasmine Crockett, co-chair of the Harris-Walz campaign, appeared on MSNBC’s “Velshi” on Saturday, targeting former President Donald Trump and his supporters as the root of problems in Springfield, OH. She argued that the issues plaguing the city are not due to immigrants and workers who have contributed to the nation’s economic growth, but rather the hate groups and extremist ideologies that have taken root in the area.

Crockett concurred with Trump’s assertion that certain cities and towns are being overrun by gangs and crime. However, she shifted the blame to the “MAGA gang” and white supremacist groups that have infiltrated communities like Springfield. “He’s right, there are problems in our communities,” Crockett said. “But the issue is not the immigrants, workers, or individuals who have helped revitalize the economy. Instead, it’s the white supremacists and hate groups that Trump has yet to publicly condemn.”

Crockett criticized Trump’s handling of the pandemic, labeling it “ineptness” that left the nation in a “big hole.” She asserted that the economy has since recovered, thanks to the efforts of immigrants and workers who have contributed to its growth. By contrast, she implied that Trump’s policies have emboldened extremist groups, which are now wreaking havoc on communities like Springfield. Crockett’s comments underscored her party’s stance that Trump’s rhetoric and policies are responsible for the social and economic challenges facing the nation.
