Protests erupted on the University of Arizona campus recently as anti-Israel demonstrators clashed with law enforcement officials. The rowdy crowd prompted police to use “chemical munitions” to disperse the gathering.

Reports indicated that protesters had set up an unauthorized encampment on campus, a direct violation of the university’s protest rules and the policies put in place by University President Robert C. Robbins. These guidelines required that any demonstrations or encampments resulting in large gatherings must obtain a permit from the school.

Despite warnings from university officials to clear the area, the protesters refused to comply, leading to the intervention of law enforcement officers. Police and SWAT teams were deployed to the scene, where protesters reportedly engaged in throwing objects at the officers.

After repeated calls for dispersal were ignored, police resorted to using tear gas and rubber bullets to restore order. The university later released a statement condemning the actions of the protesters and ensuring the safety of upcoming graduation events.

The unauthorized encampment was eventually cleared by police early the following morning.
