A pro-life pregnancy resource center in Chicago was targeted by vandals in the aftermath of the Democratic National Convention (DNC). The Aid for Women center, which provides essential services to mothers facing unplanned pregnancies, was attacked in the early morning hours following the convention.

The nonprofit organization, which operates five pregnancy centers and two maternity homes in the Chicago area, offers a range of services including ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, and Abortion Pill Reversal (APR). Mary FioRito, a pro-life advocate and long-time volunteer at Aid for Women, condemned the vandalism, stating that the perpetrators were ultimately harming vulnerable women who rely on the center’s services.

FioRito, who has been involved with Aid for Women for over 20 years, emphasized that the women who seek help from the center are already facing significant challenges in their lives. “Pregnancy centers are not political advocates, they are not legal advocates, they simply help women,” she explained. “Many of the women we serve are not women of means, and pregnancy is hard enough without this kind of added stress.”

The vandalism at Aid for Women comes after the DNC, where Planned Parenthood set up a pop-up clinic outside the venue, offering free medication abortions and vasectomies. According to Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, at least 25 babies were aborted at the DNC. FioRito noted that the vandalism was a misguided attempt to target the pro-life movement, but ultimately only served to harm the women who rely on the center’s services.
