During a recent episode of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher expressed frustration with voters who prioritize economic issues over democracy. He stated that those who are more concerned about the cost of living “need to be slapped up the head” because democracy is also a crucial issue. Maher emphasized that people do care about democracy, not just economic matters.

The discussion turned to whether former President Donald Trump would leave office at the end of a potential second term in 2024. Kellyanne Conway, a Fox News Contributor and former Trump Senior Counselor, questioned why this topic was being discussed. Maher challenged the notion of questioning the importance of elections in America.

Conway, a seasoned pollster and attorney, countered by saying that ordinary people are more focused on everyday expenses like food, utilities, and insurance. Maher interrupted to stress the significance of democracy in people’s minds, even if it may not be a top priority in certain social circles.

It is clear that Maher believes democracy should be a priority for all voters, regardless of their immediate economic concerns.
