A large drug bust operation in Southern California led to the arrest of over 100 individuals. The operation, known as “Operation Street Sweeper,” was prompted by increased criminal activity and complaints from the community. During the operation, 46 people were observed purchasing various illegal substances including methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, PCP, and Psilocybin mushrooms. In a three-day period, 44 drug dealers were identified and 33 of them were arrested for narcotics sales violations.

Additionally, with the help of nearby agencies, 71 more suspects were arrested for various charges including misdemeanor arrests for trespassing, public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of controlled substances. Some suspects were also arrested for outstanding warrants, parole violations, probation violations, and felony warrants. A total of 104 individuals were arrested, with many of them claiming to be homeless or living in local motels.

During a probation search at a motel room, police found a woman wanted for a felony drunk-driving crash and a man with an outstanding burglary warrant. The man was found with stolen merchandise worth several thousand dollars. Following the arrests, incidents requiring medical aid and police calls in the Magnolia Avenue corridor area significantly decreased.

Riverside Police Chief Larry V. Gonzalez stated that enforcement efforts will continue to ensure the safety of community members, businesses, and visitors. The Riverside Police Department will maintain its focus on investigating individuals involved in drug trafficking and other crimes impacting the community’s safety.
