A search for two Louisiana girls who were allegedly abducted after their mother’s murder has ended in tragedy in Jackson, Mississippi.

According to Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade, the suspect, Daniel Callihan, was apprehended after a high-speed chase.

Unfortunately, 4-year-old Erin Brunett was found dead in a wooded area, while her 6-year-old sister, Jalie Brunett, was found alive and taken to a Jackson hospital for treatment.

Wade stated that he does not believe Callihan is the girls’ father, but declined to provide further information.

The police chief reported that evidence of potential human trafficking was discovered at the location where Callihan was apprehended, including small animal cages. As a result, Jackson police have contacted human trafficking investigators to assess the scene.

An Amber Alert was issued on Thursday for the two girls, who were abducted after their mother, 35-year-old Callie Brunett, was found dead by her father in her Loranger, Louisiana mobile home.

The victim’s father had reported her missing 24 hours earlier, after they had not heard from her since Tuesday morning.
