Ohio Senator JD Vance, who is running alongside former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, expressed confidence in his upcoming debate against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, saying that he doesn’t need to extensively prepare because Trump’s record speaks for itself.

During a phone call with reporters on Wednesday, Vance emphasized that he plans to focus on highlighting the successes of Trump’s policies and contrasting them with the failures of Vice President Kamala Harris. “We have a clear and concise message to share with the American people about the benefits of Trump’s policies and the drawbacks of Harris’, so we don’t need to overprepare,” Vance said.

Vance pointed to Trump’s achievements in boosting take-home pay, wages, and border security, while criticizing Harris’ record on issues like affordable groceries, housing, and job security. “It’s not a hard argument to make when you compare our records,” Vance said. “We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we’re not trying to hide it.”

The call with reporters was also attended by Brian Pannebecker, founder of Auto Workers for Trump, who discussed the potential consequences of Harris’ agenda on the auto industry. Pannebecker warned that if Harris’ electric vehicle mandates are implemented, many jobs in the United Auto Workers (UAW) union would be lost. “Consumers don’t want to buy electric cars, and the government is trying to dictate the market instead of letting consumers drive demand,” Pannebecker explained.

The call also touched on the recent decision by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters to withhold its endorsement from Harris, marking the first time in nearly 30 years that the union has not endorsed a Democratic candidate. Internal polling showed that union members prefer Trump over Harris by a significant margin, 59 percent to 34 percent.
