Obamacare Blamed for UnitedHealth Hack: Is it Really to Blame?

This article is sponsored by Americans for Limited Government. Fifteen years ago, former President Barack Obama promised that his socialized medicine plan would not cover illegal aliens. Remember when Rep. Joe Wilson shouted, “You lie!” Democrats and the media criticized Wilson, but he was right. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) turns 15 next March, a prime example of Democrats claiming to help people but really helping themselves.

Obamacare was supposed to improve healthcare, but instead, it resulted in incompetence, huge profits for insurance companies, and AI-backed healthcare rationing. UnitedHealth Group recently faced a cyberattack, delaying payments and raising questions about cybersecurity. Despite record profits, UnitedHealth increased premiums and denied benefits using AI.

AARP spent millions pushing a provision in the Inflation Reduction Act, allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices with manufacturers. This benefits private insurers like UnitedHealth and expands subsidies for ACA plans. Free market advocates warn that this legislation benefits insurance companies and controls drug prices.

Obama’s promises about healthcare turned out to be lies, creating a poorly run monopoly that enriches executives and exposes patients to hackers. Perhaps it’s time for a rematch between Obama and Wilson in DC. This time, Wilson can say, “I told you so.”
