Authorities in Spain have released video footage showing David Knezevich purchasing duct tape and spray paint at a Madrid hardware store shortly before being spotted spray-painting a surveillance camera at his estranged wife’s apartment.

Knezevich faces kidnapping charges in relation to the disappearance of Ana Knezechich Henao, who resided in Madrid following the couple’s separation.

She was last sighted entering her apartment on February 2 and was reported missing a few days later when she failed to meet a friend for a trip from Madrid to Barcelona.

Concerns were raised by friends and family after receiving text messages from Knezevich Henao’s phone that did not match her usual style of writing. Spanish records indicate that Knezevich requested a woman to translate a message into Spanish for him.

The couple had been undergoing a difficult divorce after 13 years of marriage. They jointly operate a computer support service catering to South Florida businesses. Property records reveal they also own a residence and two other properties in Fort Lauderdale, with one currently facing foreclosure.

The FBI and Spanish national police are conducting a joint investigation into the case. Law enforcement agencies in Knezevich’s native Serbia and Knezevich Henao’s native Colombia are also participating, according to reports.

Knezevich was apprehended last month upon his return to Miami from Serbia and is being detained without bond. His arraignment has been rescheduled for next week.
