In a televised address to the nation on Wednesday evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke out following a series of airstrikes that targeted high-ranking terrorist officials in Beirut, Lebanon, and Tehran, Iran.
The strikes resulted in the deaths of two prominent figures: Fu’ad Shukr, the second-in-command of Hezbollah, who was killed in Beirut on Tuesday, and Ismail Haniyeh, a top Hamas political leader, who was killed in Tehran on Wednesday.
While Netanyahu’s address acknowledged the recent developments, he notably refrained from explicitly claiming Israeli responsibility for the strike in Tehran.
Iran’s so-called “Supreme Leader,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has reportedly called for a direct attack on Israel in response.
