The two crimes are simple. The misdemeanor is not important by itself. Trump directed paid workers to falsify business records. People say "big deal" with sarcasm. Of course, that tiny crime was not terribly important.
The problem for Trump is that America has laws that protect us from having fake people as candidates. Without illegal deceptions, it would have been physically impossible for Trump to be a candidate in 2016. Changing the nature of our 2016 presidential election was not simply "campaigning." That election interference was a separate crime. It was planned and accomplished with the help of others. That makes it criminal conspiracy. Trump left physical evidence, and of course he left behind several people he used and cast aside, or else flatly tossed under busses.
The most amazing thing about Trump causing this criminal trial (and others) is that in each case Trump has made it easy for the prosecution. He knows he will be found guilty of more than one crime. Trump doesn't care about that. He is too busy convincing his adrenaline addicted fans that he will deliver their "hit" of excitement after they elect him anyway.
Make no mistake, Trump really can win this way. Addicts can ignore anything, do anything. Trump knows.
