Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) expressed gratitude for the support he received in defeating the attempt to remove him as House Speaker. In an interview on Fox News’s Fox and Friends, Johnson addressed the efforts by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) to vacate him as speaker, noting that the majority of his colleagues showed confidence in him by rejecting the motion.

Johnson emphasized the importance of continuing to work in the House, especially during turbulent times globally. He highlighted the need to focus on the country’s priorities and emphasized the need to move forward and not be distracted by internal chaos.

With overwhelming support from both Republican and Democratic members, Johnson believes that another attempt to oust him is unlikely. He stressed the importance of staying focused on the work ahead and working towards common goals to save America.

During the vote, only two Republican members, Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and Eli Crane (R-AZ), voted to vacate the Speaker position, while the majority stood by Johnson. Johnson, along with House Minority leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), is up for reelection in 2024.
