A Memphis Police Department employee had a terrifying ordeal early Wednesday morning when she returned to her parked Jeep Wrangler downtown and found two men hiding in the back seat. According to a police report, the woman had parked her Jeep at the Patterson Flats Apartments around 12:15 AM. When she returned at 4:15 AM, she found the driver’s side door cracked, but initially thought she had left it unlocked.

Upon getting in, she detected an unusual smell of marijuana and looked in the back seat, discovering two men inside. One of them allegedly pointed a handgun at her head and demanded, “Get out of the car before I shoot you.” The other man was lying down in the back seat, police said. Fearing for her life, the woman opened the door and fled up the street to her apartment. The two men also took off.

Among the items stolen from the Jeep was a $250 Kurt Geiger purse and a wallet containing her driver’s license, debit card, Social Security card, MPD-issued identification, and personal digital assistant device. Despite the seriousness of the incident, no arrests have been made as of the time of reporting.
