Former First Lady Melania Trump may return to the White House if her husband, former President Donald Trump, wins the upcoming election, but she is likely to split her time between Palm Beach, Florida, and New York, according to a report from Axios.
A report from Axios suggests that Melania Trump would primarily reside at Mar-a-Lago, where the couple has been living since January 2021. She would, however, visit the White House to attend ceremonial events, such as special occasions or state dinners, but would not reside there full-time.
During her husband’s first term, Melania Trump did not move into the White House until June 2017, reportedly to avoid interrupting their son Barron’s school year. During her time in the White House, she played a key role in several renovations and restorations to the historic executive mansion.
Melania Trump has been involved in her husband’s administration through her “Be Best” initiative, but has largely shied away from the campaign trail and public spotlight since leaving the White House.
She has made a few public appearances, including at the funeral of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter in November and at a ceremony commemorating Bill of Rights Day at the National Archives in December. Melania Trump also delivered a eulogy at her mother’s funeral in January.
Recently, she made her first campaign appearance at a fundraising event with the GOP LGBT group Log Cabin Republicans in April and is set to host a second fundraiser for the group next month.
