Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas criticized President Joe Biden for withholding “precise” weaponry from Israel during its conflict with Hamas. McCaul, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee, raised concerns about the President’s decision to hold back weapons that Congress had approved for Israel, including precision-guided weapons that help minimize civilian casualties.

In a recent interview on This Week, McCaul discussed the allocation of $26.38 billion in aid to Israel through the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, despite some opposition from representatives. He also highlighted the approval of $60.84 billion in aid to Ukraine on the same day, suggesting that Biden’s decision to withhold weapons from Israel could send a negative signal to the world, including Russia and China.

McCaul emphasized the importance of maintaining trust and support among allies, criticizing Biden’s decision as potentially damaging to the country’s reputation. He pointed out the high number of casualties in Gaza, where approximately 34,000 Palestinians have been killed during the conflict, with a significant portion being women and children.

Biden, in an interview with CNN, indicated that he would not provide offensive weapons to Israel that could be used in Rafah, a key Hamas stronghold in Gaza. McCaul’s concerns about the impact of withholding weaponry on the United States’ relationships with allies and adversaries underscore the broader implications of the decision.
