Mara Macie recently appeared on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM after qualifying for the ballot in her challenge against Rep. John Rutherford (R-FL). Host Matt Boyle deemed this race as potentially the most significant in America.
Macie explained that her husband’s battle with the Department of Defense over the military vaccine mandate in 2021 led her to become aware of Rutherford. She discovered that Rutherford had not been responsive to constituents who reached out to him regarding the mandate, which raised red flags for her. As she delved further into Rutherford’s record, she became increasingly concerned about his actions, such as voting for big-money packages overseas, against the Constitution, and in support of red flag laws, despite his background as a former sheriff.
Boyle highlighted Rutherford’s voting record, which included support for government funding bills, surveillance of American citizens, and foreign aid to Ukraine. Macie criticized Rutherford and his campaign treasurer for justifying these votes using canned talking points, noting that their defense seemed weak and unconvincing.
The conversation also touched upon issues such as border security, the tragic murder of a law enforcement officer by an illegal alien in St. Augustine, and the importance of grassroots conservatives taking power away from the Washington establishment. Macie expressed confidence in her fundraising efforts and volunteer recruitment as she campaigns across the district to inform more constituents about Rutherford’s record.
