During Wednesday’s airing of NBC’s “MTP Now,” Biden Campaign Co-Chair Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), who is also a Senate candidate for Delaware, remarked, “A lot of people are going through significant struggles right now, as we emerge from the pandemic. They are not even aware of the efforts this administration has made to truly uplift our communities.”

Host Peter Alexander questioned, “Congresswoman, specifically, if the campaign is in good standing with black voters, as President Biden has historically maintained, why is the President dedicating so many resources to conduct five events targeting black voters in May of an election year?”

Alexander followed up by asking, “Is this an indication of the current decline and the necessity to improve communication to regain black voter support?”

Blunt Rochester replied, “I believe many people are dealing with their own challenges. We aim to emphasize the various investments he has made, whether it’s enhancing our infrastructure and creating jobs, achieving the lowest black unemployment rate in 50 years, possibly ever, or supporting black small businesses. This is why he visited small businesses today. Consider the $16 billion investment in HBCUs and the student debt relief, which is a prevalent concern among black voters.”
