A 49-year-old Las Vegas resident was arrested Saturday outside a Donald Trump rally in Coachella, California, after authorities discovered a shotgun and handgun in his possession. The incident occurred at a rally held by the former president at the Empire Polo Club, a venue that has hosted major music festivals such as Coachella.

According to reports, the shotgun was found to be loaded, while the handgun was also loaded, although there may be some discrepancy in the details. What is clear, however, is that the suspect had a “high capacity” magazine in his possession, which is prohibited in California, the state with some of the strictest gun control laws in the country.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was carrying multiple driver’s licenses and had multiple passports with different names, raising questions about his identity and potential motives. The suspect’s possession of the loaded firearms and high-capacity magazine led to his arrest, as well as charges related to violating California’s gun laws.

Despite the potential security threat, authorities assured that the incident did not compromise the safety of former President Trump or the attendees of the event. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement confirming that the situation was brought under control without incident, and that the safety of the public remained the top priority. The suspect’s current status and the charges against him are not immediately clear.
