Left-wing supporters are now suggesting that President Joe Biden might attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump or Supreme Court justices after the high court disrupted their legal strategies to remove Trump from the presidential race.
The Supreme Court ruled Monday that presidential actions fall into three categories: actions within the president’s conclusive constitutional authority, which are immune; actions with presumptive immunity that need court evaluation; and unofficial acts, which have no immunity.
This ruling complicates Special Counsel Jack Smith’s efforts to prosecute Trump before the election by sending several key questions back to the lower courts and rejecting other DOJ claims. This situation arose because Democrats chose to use legal maneuvers to target their political opponent, forcing the Supreme Court to intervene.
Unsurprisingly, some left-wing users on social media, misunderstanding the ruling, are suggesting it allows any presidential action if deemed official. However, the court clarified that unofficial acts have no immunity and must be evaluated before prosecution.
The ruling also states that the president is not immune from impeachment for official acts. Congress can still hold a president accountable, as seen when the House impeached Trump for Jan. 6, though the Senate acquitted him. The DOJ is now attempting to retry Trump in court since they didn’t get their desired Senate outcome.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s dissent misrepresented the ruling, causing more confusion. She falsely claimed the majority’s reasoning would shield presidential orders for assassinations or coups from prosecution, misleading many users on social media.
For instance, Democrats’ TikTok surrogate Harry Sisson suggested on X that Biden could use military force against Trump with immunity.
Another user, Jack Eason, proposed Biden should have Trump killed to test the ruling’s limits.
Lawyer Bradley P. Moss suggested Biden could execute Steve Bannon in prison without facing prosecution.
HuffPost’s Igor Bobic insinuated Biden could drone journalists.
Punchbowl News co-founder John Bresnahan responded that “Biden has immunity for at least 6 more months……”
These misrepresentations are dangerous for the future of the nation and potentially for Trump’s safety.
