The foreign-born population in America has seen a significant surge, with illegal immigration skyrocketing under President Joe Biden. According to the Census Bureau, 15.6% of the U.S. population is now foreign-born, the highest ever recorded. A recent analysis by the Center for Immigration Studies attributes this increase to Biden’s open border policies, with the foreign-born population reaching 51.6 million in March 2024 – a 5.1 million increase in just two years.
The report also notes that nearly 60% of this increase is due to illegal immigration, and less than half of those who crossed the border in the past two years have jobs, potentially burdening taxpayers. Since Biden took office in 2021, the foreign-born population has grown by 6.6 million, with 58% of the increase being attributed to illegal immigration.
The report raises concerns about the ability of America to successfully integrate and assimilate these immigrants, especially with projections suggesting the foreign-born population could reach 62.5 million by 2030 and 82.2 million by 2040. With a significant portion of new arrivals not actively seeking work, questions are raised about the impact on the economy and society as a whole.
