Lara Trump, former President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, is promoting the Republican National Committee’s effort to recruit poll watchers, poll workers, and legal experts in Pennsylvania, a crucial swing state for the presidential election.

The RNC co-chairwoman spoke at a tour stop for the RNC’s “Protect The Vote” initiative in Pennsylvania on Tuesday.

“The RNC has established an exceptional election integrity program,” she said. “This is unprecedented and aims to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.”

The RNC aims to recruit at least 5,000 volunteers in Pennsylvania, with Lara Trump stating the committee wants “an army of 100,000 people across the country, working to ensure election integrity.”

The initiative is designed to “champion election integrity, rally voters for President Trump, and train volunteers to ensure it is easy to vote and hard to cheat this November,” according to an RNC press release. RNC Chairman Michael Whatley added of the poll watchers and workers, “If this goes smoothly, it’s a boring job. That’s what we want — fair, accurate, secure, and transparent systems.”

Democrats criticized the effort, targeting the Republican Party’s unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 elections, sparing no criticism for Donald Trump.

“Donald Trump is terrified that Pennsylvania voters will hand him another defeat in November, so he and his Republican allies are using whatever resources they have left to spread dangerous lies about rigged elections,” Democratic National Committee spokeswoman Addy Toevs told the Pennsylvania Capital-Star. “The truth is simpler: Trump is a loser. He knows his best shot at victory in November is to undermine our democratic process, just like he tried and failed to do in 2020.”

“Democrats will continue to fight for every voter’s right to be heard — early, by mail, and in person on Election Day — free from intimidation, misinformation, or suppression,” Toevs added.

Pennsylvania has a critical 19 electoral votes and is rated as a “toss-up” state by the Cook Political Report.

Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden by 2.3 percentage points in RealClearPolling’s average for the state.
