The Daily Signal reported that there are strong indications that Kristen Clarke, the current head of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, may have lied during her confirmation process in 2021. During questioning by Sen. Tom Cotton, she was asked if she had ever been arrested or accused of committing a violent crime since becoming a legal adult, to which she answered “No.”
It was revealed that Clarke was arrested in July 2006 for allegedly attacking her husband with a knife, causing a deep cut to his finger. Clarke argues that her record was expunged, but the incident still meets the criteria of being accused of a violent crime.
Clarke’s past actions include spreading racist pseudoscientific ideas while at Harvard in the 1990s, claiming in a letter to the Crimson that the structure of the black person’s brain made them superior to other races. She later claimed this letter was a parody, but there is no evidence to support this.
Despite these controversies, Clarke was confirmed by the Senate and went on to abuse her power at the DOJ, targeting peaceful pro-life protesters while giving leftists and antisemites a pass. This raises concerns about her honesty and integrity in her role.
