Kevin Morris, a Hollywood lawyer and associate of Hunter Biden, has reportedly decided to stop funding Hunter’s legal defense, as confirmed by Morris on Thursday. This development comes just before Hunter’s impending trial for alleged gun violations.
Morris, who is connected to the Biden family and contributed to President Joe Biden’s campaign, had previously helped Hunter with his involvement in the art business and took control of Hunter’s stake in the Chinese fund, BHR Partners. However, Morris is now unable to continue financing Hunter’s legal challenges, leaving Hunter in a precarious situation as he faces multiple legal battles.
Since their association in 2019, Morris has assisted Hunter with various expenses, including IRS debts and legal fees, amounting to $4.9 million overall. Hunter’s legal bills have accumulated to at least $10 million over the past five years, covering costs related to tax charges and the ongoing impeachment inquiry.
Hunter’s legal defense against government investigations is expected to be costly, with experts estimating expenses of over $100,000 monthly. His upcoming gun-related trial is scheduled for June 3, 2024, in Delaware, after an unsuccessful appeal on the charges.
Despite being offered a plea deal by prosecutors, Hunter refused to accept it due to complications surrounding the diversion agreement with the Department of Justice. This agreement would have allowed him to plead guilty to tax crimes and avoid jail time, as well as immunity from potential future charges, including a felony gun violation.
