Kamala Harris Reverses Stance on Fracking, Abandons 2019 Position

Kamala Harris has reversed her stance on fracking, a significant shift from her 2019 position. In a recent statement, Harris said she no longer supports a ban on fracking, a stark contrast to her previous assertion that she was “in favor of banning fracking.”

Harris’s change of heart comes after she joined the Biden Administration, which has supported a ban on fracking. However, her previous stance on the issue was a key part of her platform, particularly in California, where she had a history of working on the issue.

Fracking has been a contentious issue in the presidential campaign, particularly in Pennsylvania, a critical swing state and major gas producer. Former President Donald Trump has seized on Harris’s reversal, criticizing her as the “ultra-liberal driving force behind every single Biden catastrophe.”

Trump claimed that Harris’s opposition to fracking would lead to higher energy costs, saying “You’re going to be paying a lot of money. You’re going to be paying so much. You’re going to say, ‘Bring back Trump.'” However, the Harris campaign pushed back, highlighting the Biden Administration’s climate change legislation and record-high domestic energy production.

Harris’s campaign also pointed out that Trump’s own administration created 300,000 energy jobs, while Trump lost nearly a million jobs. The campaign accused Trump of trying to distract from his own plans to enrich oil and gas executives at the expense of the middle class.

It’s worth noting that Harris had previously endorsed the Green New Deal, which included a fracking ban. Her reversal on the issue has sparked criticism from some environmental groups, who had seen her as a champion of their cause.
