Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign has reported a staggering $310 million in fundraising for the month of July, bringing her total war chest to $377 million as the fall election season approaches.

This impressive haul surpasses the amount raised by President Joe Biden from April to June and dwarfs the $139 million raised by her Republican challenger, former President Donald Trump, in July. The Democratic National Committee and joint fundraising committees also contributed to Harris’s total, which marks the fastest $1 billion raised by a presidential campaign in history.

Notably, two-thirds of Harris’s July donors were first-time contributors, and the majority were grassroots donors who gave less than $200, leaving room for potential future contributions. The campaign also saw a significant surge in donations from younger generations, with more than 10 times the number of Gen Z donors and more than 8 times the number of millennial donors compared to June.

Women made up 60% of all donors in July, and coalition groups such as Black Women for Harris, Latinas for Harris, and White Dudes for Harris raised over $20 million for the campaign. Campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez attributed the success to Harris’s growing coalition, which is “mobilized, growing, and ready to put in the work.”

The campaign has also emphasized its grassroots efforts, welcoming over 170,000 new volunteers and hosting 2,300 events in battleground states with the help of over 260 coordinated campaign offices and 1,400 staff.

In response to Harris’s numbers, the Trump campaign released its own fundraising data, reporting $138.7 million raised in July and a total cash on hand of $327 million. The campaign attributed the numbers to “continued momentum with donors at every level” and expressed confidence in its ability to win the election.

Harris’s campaign has also drawn attention for its large crowd sizes, including a recent event at Georgia State University’s Convocation Center that drew 10,000 people, the largest Democratic event of the season.
