Late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! poked fun at President Joe Biden’s departure from the 2024 presidential race on Monday night. Guest-host Lamorne Morris, filling in for Kimmel, who is on a break until September, couldn’t resist cracking jokes about the octogenarian leader’s exit.
Morris, discussing his recent Emmy nomination for the fifth season of Fargo, quipped, “I’ve accepted more nominations this year than Joe Biden.” He then mused, “It’s weird, it’s weird, I don’t know if I feel comfortable saying that, but you know, of course that’s the big story.” Morris continued, “Yesterday, President Biden decided to, well, not exactly drop out, but kind of just wandered off.”
The actor, known for his comedic timing, pretended to be an old man, wandering aimlessly around the studio while making wisecracks about Biden’s decision. Morris, who expressed his affection for the president, also took a jab at Donald Trump’s reaction to the news. Trump, the Republican candidate for 2024, was officially confirmed at the party’s national convention on Thursday.
