Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) made a striking claim on Saturday, asserting that 70% of voters share a common perspective on three crucial issues: foreign policy, immigration, and the importance of keeping jobs in the United States. Speaking at an event in Hershey, Pennsylvania, alongside political commentator Tucker Carlson, Vance argued that the majority of Americans are united on these issues, but that the country’s leadership has deliberately created divisions among the public.

Vance emphasized that the “leadership class” has convinced itself that there is a strong American majority in favor of policies that prioritize foreign wars, mass immigration, and outsourcing jobs. However, he believes that this is a misconception, and that most Americans actually share his viewpoint on these issues.

Tucker Carlson responded by suggesting that the consensus among the public may be even higher than 70%, as those who advocate for opposing positions often refuse to admit their true intentions. Carlson pointed out that proponents of mass immigration, for example, rarely acknowledge their role in bringing in large numbers of undocumented immigrants.

Vance’s comments come at a critical time, with the November 5 election just two months away, and the economy, jobs, and immigration are top of mind for voters. A recent Economist/YouGov poll found that 54% of voters identified jobs, the economy, immigration, and inflation as the most important issues.
