Iran has issued a dire warning to Israel, threatening a devastating “obliterating war” if it launches a full-scale attack on Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed terror group operating in southern Lebanon. The Iranian mission to the United Nations made the warning in a recent statement, citing Israel’s alleged “psychological warfare” as a motivator.
According to the statement, an attack on Lebanon would prompt Iran to take all necessary measures, including engaging “all Resistance Fronts” and “full involvement” in a comprehensive conflict. This threat comes as several countries, including the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, and Canada, have issued travel advisories urging their citizens to avoid Lebanon.
Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah escalated recently after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked several Hezbollah positions. In response, Hezbollah launched rockets at an Israeli military base and attacked Israeli towns. Israel has been carrying out retaliatory strikes, targeting terrorist sites in southern Lebanon.
The crisis has deepened amid concerns that both sides are violating international law. Truth Voices previously reported that Hezbollah has failed to comply with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. The ongoing violence has prompted Secretary of State Antony Blinken to call for a ceasefire in Gaza as the best way to de-escalate the situation.
