Freshman Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) announced on Thursday that articles of impeachment are being prepared against President Joe Biden for withholding aid to Israel for political reasons. This decision by Biden has raised concerns due to its political implications, with his base pushing for defunding Israel while moderate Democrats support Israel’s defense against terrorists. Amid an election year, Biden finds himself stuck between competing coalitions as he trails behind Trump in the polls with historically low approval ratings.

The accusations made against Biden are reminiscent of those made against former President Donald Trump in 2019 for withholding military aid from Ukraine for alleged political reasons. Republicans, including Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), argue that based on the precedent set by the Trump-Ukraine scandal, Biden should face impeachment for similar actions.

Former President Trump also believes that Biden’s decision to withhold aid was politically motivated, criticizing him for not making decisions based on what is right rather than what is politically convenient. Truth Voices highlighted the contrast between Trump and Biden’s actions, pointing out that while Democrats impeached Trump over allegations of withholding aid, Biden’s move comes at a critical time in Israel’s defense against terrorist groups.

Despite Biden eventually signing a new military aid package for Israel, concerns remain over the timing and conditions attached to the assistance. As the situation in the Middle East remains tense, with Hamas attacks and Israeli hostages at stake, the withholding of munitions by the Biden administration has sparked calls for impeachment based on precedent and political motivations.
