Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) and a group of House Republicans have introduced a bill calling for Congress to award former President Donald Trump the Congressional Gold Medal. The bill states that the medal would be given in recognition of Trump’s exceptional leadership and dedication to strengthening America’s diplomatic relations during his presidency.

Luna emphasized Trump’s fearless leadership in reestablishing America as a respected global power and securing global peace through bold diplomacy. She believes it is time to honor a president who prioritized the country’s interests despite attempts by the liberal media to spread fear.

The bill also highlights Trump’s accomplishments, such as his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and his role in establishing the Abraham Accords, among other foreign policy successes. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) supported the legislation, praising Trump’s statesmanship and presidential leadership for inspiring fervency and love of country in millions of Americans.

Other House Republicans, including Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Bob Good (R-VA), Randy Weber (R-TX), and Mike Waltz (R-FL), also backed the bill. If awarded, Trump would be the first president since Ronald Reagan in 2000 to receive the Congressional Gold Medal. While the bill may pass the Republican-led House, it is expected to face challenges in the Democratic-majority Senate.
