A teenage girl, aged 17, was injured by a bullet that came through a window at Dunbar High School in Washington, DC. The incident occurred while she was talking to a teacher in a second-floor classroom. Azhari Graves, an 18-year-old, was arrested in connection with the shooting. It was reported that shots were fired by a group of teens near the school, while another group circled the area in a stolen vehicle. Graves’ attorney stated that surveillance video did not show Graves firing the shot that hit the girl.

Graves is currently being held without bond, and the injured student is expected to recover. Gun control advocacy group Giffords highlighted the strict gun laws in Washington, DC, including gun owner licensing, background checks, waiting periods for gun purchases, magazine bans, red flag laws, gun storage regulations, and restrictions on assault weapons. These measures are intended to prevent gun violence in the nation’s capital.
