Hezbollah has taken credit for launching a ballistic missile at the Mossad headquarters in Tel Aviv, Israel, in a retaliatory strike against the country’s intelligence agency.
The attack, which occurred on Wednesday morning, utilized a “Qader 1” missile, according to a statement posted by the Lebanese paramilitary organization on Telegram. Hezbollah claimed the strike was in response to Israel’s recent operation, which involved detonating pagers and wireless devices in the Gaza Strip, resulting in significant casualties.
The statement emphasized Hezbollah’s support for the Palestinian people and its commitment to defending Lebanon, adding that the Mossad headquarters was targeted due to its alleged role in assassinations and bombings. The message read, in part, “In defense of Lebanon and its people, the Islamic Resistance launched a ‘Qader 1’ ballistic missile… targeting the Mossad headquarters.”
Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the attack, with Israeli officials stating that the missile was intercepted by the IDF Aerial Defense Array before it could cause any damage. The missile was reportedly launched from Lebanon, triggering sirens in the Tel Aviv and Netanya areas.
The exchange of missile attacks between Hezbollah and Israel has intensified in recent days, with a top Hezbollah commander killed on Tuesday following a two-day Israeli bombing campaign that caused widespread destruction and displacement. The escalating conflict has raised concerns that the situation may spiral into all-out war.
Tensions in the region remain high as both sides continue to trade military strikes, with no end to the violence in sight.
