As President Joe Biden announces his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, the spotlight turns to Vice President Kamala Harris as the likely Democratic nominee. While this development may pose a challenge for Republicans, several polls suggest that Harris’s favorability rating is lower than Biden’s, which could benefit the GOP.

A recent ABC News/Ipsos poll found that former President Donald Trump fares better than Harris in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup, with Trump’s favorability rating at 40 percent, the highest in the poll’s history. Harris, on the other hand, has a 35 percent favorability rating.

The numbers are not in Harris’s favor, with a YouGov poll showing that only 39 percent of respondents would vote for her in November, compared to 44 percent who would choose Trump. A CBS News/YouGov poll also found that Trump led Harris by three points, while an Economist/YouGov poll revealed that Trump would edge out Harris by two points.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted earlier this month found that Trump would defeat Harris by one point, and a CNN/SSRS poll showed that Harris would lose to Trump by two points. While Harris outperformed Biden in one poll, she would still come out on the losing end in a matchup against Trump.
