CNN host Dana Bash delivered a candid assessment of Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent town hall appearance, suggesting that she may not have effectively closed the deal with voters. Bash expressed that while some people may be getting a better sense of Harris’ personality and character, her inability to clearly articulate her legislative priorities raised concerns.
“I’m hearing from people who I’ve been talking to, and they’re not sure if she closed the deal,” Bash said. “Some have even wondered if she’s being held to a different standard, but that may be the world she’s operating in.” Bash pointed out that Harris struggled to answer a key question, noting, “Name one of your legislative priorities. There wasn’t one.”
Bash also acknowledged that the town hall did allow voters to gain a better understanding of Harris’ personality and character, but noted that her responses to questions about weaknesses and past mistakes were less forthcoming. Despite this, Bash suggested that the campaign sees the town hall as a win, and that any opportunity for Harris to interact with voters is a positive development.
