General Motors has finally begun selling adapters that enable its electric vehicles to charge at Tesla Supercharger stations, 15 months after initially announcing its support for the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector. The adapters will allow owners of Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC electric vehicles to charge their cars at Tesla’s extensive network of Superchargers.

The new adapters, which can be purchased through the respective vehicle brand’s mobile app for $225, will initially be available to US customers, with Canadian owners having to wait until later this year. However, future GM electric vehicles will come equipped with the NACS DC adapters, eliminating the need for owners to purchase them separately.

The rollout of the adapters is part of a broader effort by GM to ensure its electric vehicles can charge at a wide range of stations. The company is working with multiple suppliers to ensure a sufficient supply of adapters for all GM EV owners. The move follows similar announcements from other major automakers, including Ford, Subaru, and Hyundai, which have all committed to supporting the NACS connector.

The delay in releasing the adapters may have been due in part to Tesla’s decision to disband its Supercharger team in April, according to a report from Forbes. Despite the delay, GM’s decision to support the NACS connector is a significant step towards a more unified and convenient charging experience for electric vehicle owners.
