The national average price for regular gas increased again this week, rising to $3.615 per gallon on Thursday, as reported by AAA.

This hike marks the third consecutive day of rising gas prices. On Monday, the average cost of regular gas was $3.59 per gallon, on Tuesday, it was $3.598 per gallon, and on Wednesday, prices reached $3.611 per gallon.

Thursday’s price increase continues the recent fluctuations in gas prices nationwide. A week ago, the average price for regular gas was $3.60 per gallon, and a month ago, it was $3.667 per gallon.

Thursday’s average price of regular gas was higher compared to May 2023, as the average cost per gallon a year ago stood at $3.543.

Mississippi continues to have the least expensive gas prices in the nation, with an average of $3.064 per gallon. However, there has been an increase in the last 24 hours. On Wednesday, the average price in Mississippi was $3.058.

California remains the state with the highest gas prices at $5.155 per gallon on Thursday. Nonetheless, gas prices in California have been decreasing this week, if still higher than any other state. On Wednesday, the cost was $5.172, and a week ago, it was $5.241 per gallon.

Washington D.C.

The average price per gallon in the nation’s capital on Thursday is $3.704, slightly above the national average but a minor decrease from Wednesday’s $3.716.

Virginia

The average price in Virginia is $3.470 on Thursday, which is favorable compared to the national average. However, this is an increase from Wednesday’s $3.462 per gallon.

Maryland

Maryland’s average per gallon on Thursday is $3.666, which is above the national average. This represents an increase from Wednesday’s $3.639 and a notable jump from last week’s $3.559.

Florida

Florida, a popular vacation destination, has gas prices slightly below the national average at $3.556 per gallon on Thursday. However, prices are on the rise, having been $3.553 on Wednesday and $3.498 last week.

Montana

Montana, another tourist hotspot, offers regular gas at $3.475 per gallon, cheaper than the national average of $3.615. Prices have been decreasing slightly, with Wednesday’s average at $3.476 and last week’s $3.483 per gallon.
