Gas prices on Wednesday dropped again, with the cost of regular-grade gasoline reaching $3.503 per gallon.

This marks a slight decrease from Tuesday’s price of $3.518 per gallon, according to AAA. This continues the trend of falling gas prices that began before Memorial Day weekend.

Wednesday’s gas price is lower than last week at this time, when it was $3.575 per gallon, and also cheaper compared to a month ago, when prices were at $3.653 per gallon.

The recent downward trend has made gas prices less expensive than they were a year ago at this time, when a gallon of regular-grade gasoline cost $3.552.

On Wednesday, Mississippi became the first state to see its average price for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline drop below $3, now costing $2.996. Yesterday, it was $3.007 per gallon, the same as on Monday.

Arkansas has the next lowest gas prices, at $3.014 per gallon on Wednesday.

California continues to have the highest gas prices, with regular-grade gas costing $5.002 per gallon on Wednesday. This is a slight decrease from yesterday’s $5.025 per gallon and down from $5.104 a week ago. At this rate, gas in California could drop below $5 by the end of the week.

Interestingly, while the average gas price is lower now than at this time in 2023, both Mississippi and California’s prices are higher.
