A massive manhunt is underway in France for an armed gang that killed two prison officers and injured three others to free an inmate they were escorting. French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin called the efforts unprecedented, with hundreds of officers involved in the search for the escaped convict, Mohamed Amra, and the attackers. The violent attack has shocked the nation, and prison workers have held moments of silence to honor the fallen officers. Darmanin expressed hope that Amra will be captured in the coming days, with 450 officers deployed in the region to search for clues. The convoy was ambushed on the A154 freeway while transporting Amra back to jail in Évreux. Amra, a 30-year-old with a long criminal record, had 13 convictions for robbery and other crimes. The prosecutor shared that one of the officers killed was a 52-year-old captain with nearly 30 years of service and two children, while the other officer killed was 34 and expecting a child.
