Fox News has requested to host a vice presidential debate at Virginia State University, an HBCU, after President Joe Biden declined a proposal for a presidential debate on the network. Anchor Bret Baier stated that former President Donald Trump has accepted the request on behalf of his future vice president, though Biden’s campaign has not yet accepted. Trump suggested holding the debate at Virginia State University, the first HBCU to host a debate, and urged Vice President Kamala Harris to agree. However, there may be a conflict as Harris has already accepted a debate invitation from CBS on similar dates. Fox News proposed dates for the debate and potential vice presidential candidates from the Republican Party include Senators Tim Scott and Marco Rubio, Governors Doug Burgum and Kristi Noem, and Representatives Elise Stefanik and Byron Donalds. The moderators for the proposed debate would be Baier and Martha MacCallum. The CNN and ABC presidential debates, accepted by both candidates, are scheduled for June 27 and September 10 respectively. Third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has expressed interest in participating in the CNN debate.
