Huma Abedin, a former aide to Hillary Clinton, is reportedly engaged to Alex Soros, the son of billionaire philanthropist George Soros. According to sources, the younger Soros proposed to Abedin, ex-wife of convicted sex offender Anthony Weiner, six weeks ago.
Described as an “effortless” relationship, Abedin is said to be “relaxed and happy” with her new fiancé. A friend of Abedin’s described the relationship as “the best way” to sum it up, while another source said Abedin had finally found happiness after a tumultuous few years.
Soros shared a romantic photo on Instagram, captioning it “This happened. We couldn’t be happier, more grateful, or more in love.” The couple made their relationship public in February, when Abedin shared a Valentine’s Day photo from their date in Paris.
Despite his reputation as a “playboy heir,” Soros has expressed a desire to be more politically involved than his father and will financially support causes like abortion rights. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he stated his intentions to be a vocal advocate for these issues.
