Food content creator Josh Slavin has embarked on a unique mission to uncover the most intriguing final meal requests of history’s most notorious death row inmates. With a following of nearly 3 million, Slavin aims to find the “greatest final meal request of all time.” His fascination with death row final meals began as a curiosity, but soon turned into a comprehensive exploration of the subject.

Slavin’s research has revealed a wide range of requests, from individuals seeking to make a statement to those simply wanting a satisfying meal. Some opt for comfort foods like chili cheese dogs or pizza, while others request elaborate spreads or even entire cakes. In a surprising twist, one inmate requested a lump of dirt, which was ultimately replaced with a cup of yogurt.

Slavin notes that the leniency of meal requests varies by state. Historically, Texas was the most accommodating, allowing inmates to request almost anything until 2011. That year, Lawrence Russel Brewer’s request for a feast was met with disappointment when he refused to eat it.

Other inmates have made unusual requests, such as Victor Feguer, who sought a single olive with the pit to sprout an olive tree from his grave as a symbol of peace. Serial killers John Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy also made memorable requests, with Gacy indulging in fried chicken and strawberries, and Bundy opting for steak, eggs, and hashbrowns.
